Cocoa Kitties Catio
Cocoa Kitties Catio
For many years, Cocoa Kitties dreamed of creating a public space where people could connect with cats in a meaningful way. The organization recognized that not every cat thrives in a traditional home environment and that not every potential adopter is ready to bring a pet home. A dedicated Catio provides an opportunity for visitors to spend time with cats, enjoy their companionship, and experience the benefits of feline interaction in a welcoming and comfortable setting.
Until now, Cocoa Kitties has operated as a foster-based rescue, relying entirely on volunteer foster homes to care for cats and kittens. While foster homes will remain a vital part of the rescue’s mission, the new Catio offers an additional way for the community to engage with the organization and the animals it serves. Visitors can relax, interact with adoptable cats, and experience the joy these animals bring while helping support the rescue’s ongoing efforts.
The Catio also plays an important role in sustaining Cocoa Kitties’ work. Revenue generated through visits will help cover the many expenses associated with animal rescue, including medical treatment, food, litter, supplies, and daily operating costs. This additional source of support will allow the organization to continue providing high-quality care to cats and kittens in need while expanding its impact within the community.
Over the past four years, Cocoa Kitties has rescued nearly 1,500 cats and kittens and provided TNVR services for countless community cats. Every adoption, every medical treatment, every foster placement, and every life saved has been made possible through the unwavering support of the community. The opening of the Catio represents not only the realization of a long-held dream but also the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Cocoa Kitties’ mission to help cats and strengthen the bond between people and animals.
Frequently Asked Catio Questions
What are your hours?
We are open to the public Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12pm-6pm. Additional times can be available by appointment. We will try our best to open on rainy/gloomy weather days (based on volunteer availability).
How much does the Catio cost?
Catio visits are a $10 donation. This includes a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
Is food allowed?
Yes! We encourage you to make yourself at home during your Catio visit. You can bring in food, but we ask that you don’t feed the kitties.
Why do we have to wear socks?
To keep our kitties safe, we ask that you wear socks during your Catio visit. Many germs can be carried in on shoes and we want to do everything possible to keep our kitties safe and healthy.
What ages are allowed in the Catio?
We allow ages 5 and up to be in the Catio with a supervising adult. One adult can supervise no more than 2 minors. Ages 14 and older can visit the Catio without an adult, but need an adult to sign our waiver.
